Doris Capistrano has extensive experience in research and development, ecosystems assessment and policy, international cooperation, capacity building and grant-making. She was Senior Advisor to the SDC/ ASEAN-Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change, Director of Forest and Governance Research at CIFOR, and Deputy Representative at the Ford Foundation. She was member of the UN Millennium Ecosystem Assessment Panel and served in other international technical bodies. Currently she is Senior Fellow of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), Fellow of the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI), and Member of the CIFOR-ICRAF Common Board of Trustees.
