Maria Cristina "Crissy" S. Guerrero has worked on community forestry and indigenous peoples concerns for close to three decades. Themes of focus have been community enterprise development, value chain analysis, heritage crafts promotion, non-timber forest products (NTFPs) development, NTFP policy advocacy, participatory resource monitoring (PRM), traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), and forest food. Her field experience is particularly on the islands of Palawan in the Philippines and on Indonesian Borneo focusing on major NTFPs such as forest honey from native bees, resins and rattan. Her recent experience extends to different ASEAN countries such as Laos, Malaysia, and Cambodia. Her training is in Business Management and International Development. She was previously the Executive Director of the Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme (NTFP-EP) Asia and stays on now as a Senior Adviser. She launched the NTFP-EP Training and Advisory wing, EXCEED, and is the co-founder of various fair and sustainable product marketing units such as Borneo Chic, CustomMade Crafts Center and the PARARA Indonesian Ethical Store.
